TROPTALKS

TropTalks is our ideas and education program, jointly presented with Western Sydney University, giving filmmakers and those with an interest in film an opportunity to discuss and debate key topics that impact the industry. Panels will feature Tropfest’s best known talent, alumni and friends to capture a broad audience and encourage debate with perspective.

Each TropTalk has a subsidy for all student intersted in the program (from both Western Sydney University and all other tertiary institutions).

INNOVATION

  • Tuesday, February 7th, 7.00pm

  • Location: Riverside Theatre, Parramatta

In such a fast paced world it is often challenging to know which emerging trends to follow, consider and trial.

Join us as we bring together knowledgeable industry experts including CEO and Founder of Animal Logic Zareh Nalbandian, Head of Production Technology at Animal Logic, Aidan Sarsfield, CEO and Founder of Proxi VR, Guy Norris, Director of Proxi VR, Harrison Norris and Cinematographer & Director of Photography Velinda Wardell to discuss what the future holds based on technology lead impacts.

Join Tropfest founder John Polson for an intimate chat with a selection of Tropfest Alumni including: Writer, Director Genevieve Clay-Smith, Actor, Director Clayton Jacobson, Actor, Writer & Director Rob Carlton and Actor & Director Matilda Brown, to hear where they went from Tropfest, what they are up to today and what’s next on their agenda.

We begin by kicking off Tropfest's 5 day festival with a stellar opening night party! As we celebrate 25 years of short film, we'll be saying a hello and a hi to our 32 Tropfest and Trop Jr finalists. 

 

CRAFT AWARDS - Thursday 9th FEB

Tropfest’s event to celebrate all aspects of the craft of filmmaking!

The industry will come together to celebrate and acknowledge the best of Australian film production. With thanks to our affiliate partners, the Australian Cinematographers Society, Australian Screen Editors, Australian Guild of Screen Composers, Australian Screen Sound Guild, the Visual Effects Society and the Australian Production Designer’s Guild, the Tropfest 25 Craft Awards recognise excellence in the fields of screenwriting, cinematography, editing, sound, screen music composition, VFX and production design.

TROP JR - Saturday 11th FEB, 12pm

Modelled on Tropfest, Trop Jr is our signature event showcasing the work of our 16 finalist films, made by incredibly talented filmmakers age 15 years and under.

Join us at this FREE family event with live entertainment, music and of course… short film! 

When: Saturday 11th February 2017 with live music, entertainment and activities kicking off from 12pm. 

Where: Event Cinemas Westfield Parramatta, Level 4 159-175 Church Street, Parramatta

How to get there: Take the T1 North Shore, Northern and Western Line from Central Station to Parramatta (about 30 min) and walk to Parramatta Park. 

What to bring: We’ve got all your festival cravings covered with heaps of delicious food and drink available, so all you’ll need is a picnic blanket and a bunch of friends and family! 

TROPFEST - Saturday 11th FEB, from 2pm

Join us for a FREE night under the stars as we premier our 16 incredible finalist films at the iconic and beautiful Parramatta Park.

What’s happening: We have an exciting afternoon and evening lined up with live music, a screening of all 24 past winners of tropfest, black carpet arrivals and of course, the world premier of our 16 finalist films! 

When: Saturday 11th February 2017 kicking off from 2pm.

Where: Parramatta Park

How to get there: Catch the Pineapple Express from Central! Just go to Platform 5 and catch the train to Parramatta. The Pineapple Express will be leaving at 12.05pm, 1.05pm and 2.10pm

OR
