24th Tropfest, a Huge Success! 24th-tropfest-a-huge-success

We want to extend a huge thank you for taking part in the 24th Tropfest! As well as a massive congratulations to all of our 16 finalist film-makers. It’s these 16 films, and the scores of others they will go on to inspire, that are the reason we fought so hard to see Tropfest return this year.

Thank you to all of our sponsors who made Sunday possible: NSW Government through Destination NSW and Screen NSW, Qantas, Nikon, SBS2, Nova 96.9, Screen Australia, HP, Hyundai, Centennial Parklands  and in particular CGU Insurance for 'seeing us through’.
Thank you to each and every one of you who joined us in Centennial Parklands, at one of our live venues across Australia, or tuned into the live broadcast on SBS 2.
And congratulations to our winners Spencer Susser and Daniel 'Cloud' Campos for taking out first place with their film ‘Shiny,’ Tristan Klein & Nick Baker awarded second place for their film ‘Postcards to Ulay,’ and the ‘The ATM,’ directed by Rick Donald for coming in third. Rick Donald was also awarded Best Actor for his performance. We also want to congratulate Natalie Bassingthwaighte awarded Best Female Actor for her performance in ‘Why Would I Lie?’ and Tim Chatfield and Andrew Kennedy for taking out the Nikon DSLR Award with their documentary ‘Jeff Harding’.

Very soon we’ll be announcing the next date for Tropfest (our 25th anniversary by the way!) as well as the Signature Item for filmmakers on that auspicious occasion. So stay tuned!
For 23 years, Tropfest has been an incredible launch pad for emerging talent, as well as the best night of the year for audiences around Australia. And we will be continuing that mission for another 23 years and more!
Thanks again for being there, and keep an eye out for more news soon!
